Savannah, GA Dentist Serving Richmond Hill, Garden City & Surrounding Communities

Accepting New Patients!

We all should visit our dentist’s office at least twice a year for a routine checkup and teeth cleaning. But what happens if we are faced with something more severe? A cracked tooth, an abscess, gum bleeding, or jaw displacement are all issues that may need immediate care from your dentist. Medical Arts Dentistry has the staff and equipment to handle such emergencies.

When you should seek emergency dental care

#1 Tooth Abscess

A tooth abscess is an infection caused by an untreated cavity, damaged or cracked tooth, or old dental work that has failed. Abscesses are extremely painful and can cause fever. They must be drained and, in some cases, your dentist may prescribe antibiotics to ensure the infection is properly mitigated.

#2 Lost Filling

When fillings age they sometimes lose their strength and their bond to your teeth. If you lose a filling, it can expose the weak tooth and any damage to elements causing pain and discomfort, and If not treated, can lead to an infection.

#3 Gum Injury

If your gums suffer a laceration or severe damage, they should be looked at immediately. Gum tissue is sensitive and open-wound exposure will lead to infection and other ailments.

#4 Knocked Out, Cracked or Chipped Tooth

If you crack or chip your tooth and it causes extreme pain, bleeding, or other symptoms, you should seek emergency dental care. A knocked-out tooth should be only touched by the crown of the tooth, washed off gently with cool water, and placed in a container to bring to your dentist for reapplication.
